Co-host on “This week on Channel 9″
I couldn’t post this because for technical reasons my blog was down over the whole weekend.
I have been a co-host of Dan Fernandez of this week’s episode of “This week on Channel 9″. It is a show that airs each week and shows what happened in the geek world in the last week. Shooting the show was a big fun because Dan is really enjoying what he does and made a lot of jokes…
It would be cool if they invited me again for another episode. Let’s hope that is going to happen

Parallel Extensions: Inside the Task Parallel Library
Charles has posted an awesome interview with Joe Duffy, Huseyin Yildiz, Daan Leijen and Stephen Toub on Channel 9.
In the interview they talk about the internals of the Task Parallel Library that is part of the Parallel Extensions for the .NET Framework. This is an awesome interview if you ever wanted to dig deeper on parallel computing and wanted to understand how and why they implemented they “job stealing” algorithm for the Parallel Extensions.
Way to go, Charles and I’m already curious (since Joe mentions that) about the upcoming interviews of this series

Peter Sestoft and the C5 generic collection library for C#
Charles Torre from Channel 9 has done an interesting interview with Peter Sestoft, a professor at the University of Copenhagen. They talked about the awesome collection library that he and some of his students have implemented and about Aspect Oriented Programming.
This is what Charles wrote:
?While in Copenhagen recently, I was able to spend some time with computer scientist Peter Sestoft. He’s currently a professor at the Copenhagen IT University and he and colleagues have created an awesome collection library for managed code (CLI), C5.
C5 is a library of generic collection classes for C# and other CLI languages and works with Microsoft .Net version 2.0 and Mono version 1.2 and later.
C5 provides functionality and data structures not provided by the standard .Net System.Collections.Generic namespace, such as persistent tree data structures, heap based priority queues, hash indexed array lists and linked lists, and events on collection changes. Also, it is more comprehensive than collection class libraries on other similar platforms, such as Java. Unlike many other collection class libraries, C5 is designed with a strict policy of supporting “code to interface not implementation”.

Niners on 9 interview has aired!
During TechEd Charles did an interview with some niners. He interviewed Zeus, JasonOlson and me. He was calling me on the phone and saying something like: c’mon littleguru we are waiting down at the fishbowl. We are doing a interview for channel 9. Want to join? And I: YES! We went out to the beach (near to the beach) and had this nice interview.
It is about Channel 9 and why we joined and what we like and dislike and what should be better etc. If you are on Channel 9 from time to time tune in - it might be interesting for you.
TechEd Barcelona 2007
Tomorrow is the last day before my journey to TechEd. You might think: what you start already on Saturday?
Well, I’m home (home home) right now and to fly to TechEd I need to travel to Vienna first. That means that I need to take the train to Vienna on Saturday. Then sleep in Vienna. Next take the train to the airport, take the airplane, take a cab to the hotel and I’m there.
Alexander Duggleby, who has set up his blog a few days ago, is traveling with me. He’s also a Microsoft Student Partner and he’s (also) going to cover TechEd on his blog. I have put “also” in brackets because I don’t really know how much I can cover the TechEd from Barcelona.
First: my notebook’s battery is completely broken. If I put it back in the whole notebook becomes very hot and slow. I learned my lesson with my old notebook; you know the one that burned down: on any sign of strange conditions try to find the cause as soon as possible and remove it.
Second: I’m going to do some work for Channel 8 and as MSP there, which means I’m going to do interviews with some nice people from Microsoft. The results are going to be put on Channel 8 afterwards. Expect some very nice interviews! Some might even be in other languages than English! I’m also going to attend some of the MSP events to socalize with other MSPs and people in general.
Third: I’m going to meet with Charles Torre from Channel 9. He’s a cool guy and I want to spend some time with him. Perhaps follow him a little bit around to see how he’s doing interviews with people etc. I’m really excited to meet him! Another dude I want to meet is Barry Dorrans. He’s also on Channel 9 and seems to be a very cool guy. He’s going to do a session on CardSpace and later on he has some free time where we can meet. Perhaps even Charles and some other niners who are there want to join…
Fourth: I really want to attend a few sessions. I mean TechEd is also here to hear about new exciting stuff that comes from Microsoft… isn’t it?
I hope to find some time to blog with all these activities in mind… Alex told me that they have web terminals there, which means I probably can access my e-mail and my blog. If I find some time I’ll blog about my experience
- I’m very excited: first TechEd to come!

Channel 9 guy visiting our garden
I got a Channel 9 guy a few weeks ago. They, over at Channel 9, send to everyone a nine guy, who writes them a postcard or asks kindely. Now on Channel 9 there is a section that says: 9 guy around the world. It is literally a list of pictures showing the guy in different places on the world.
The pictures are taken by people who own a 9 guy. Today I have had some time to make a few pictures in our garden (here in the north of Italy). These are the results:
The 9 guy is waiting for the Italian wine to grow.

In the meantime he climbs the fig tree in our garden. He became hungry from the waiting and climbing and is in search for something to eat…

… he finally sees the oregano and eats some of it.

After having eaten the 9 guy is tired and relaxes on our swing.
